    Scaffolding is a working platform erected to ensure the smooth progress of various construction processes. According to the location of erection, it is divided into external scaffolding and internal scaffolding. According to different materials, it can be classified into wooden scaffolding, bamboo scaffolding and steel pipe scaffolding. According to their structural forms, they can be classified into vertical pole scaffolding, bridge scaffolding, portal scaffolding, suspended scaffolding, hanging scaffolding, cantilever scaffolding and climbing scaffolding.

    Different types of construction projects require scaffolding for different purposes. Most bridge support frames use bowl buckle scaffolding, and there are also some that use portal scaffolding. The longitudinal distance between the vertical rods of the scaffolding is generally 1.2 to 1.8 meters. The horizontal spacing is generally 0.9 to 1.5 meters.
    Compared with general structures, the working conditions of scaffolding have the following characteristics:
    1. The variability of the load it bears is relatively large;
    2. The connection nodes of the fasteners are semi-rigid, and the rigidity of the nodes is related to the quality of the fasteners and the installation quality, resulting in significant variations in the performance of the nodes.
    3. The scaffolding structure and components have initial defects, such as the initial bending and rusting of the members, large dimensional errors during erection, and eccentric loading, etc.
    4. The connection points with the wall have a relatively large variation in the binding force on the scaffolding. The research on the above issues lacks systematic accumulation and statistical data, and does not have the conditions for independent probability analysis. Therefore, the value of the adjustment coefficient less than 1 multiplied by the structural resistance is determined by calibrating it with the safety factor used in the past. Therefore, the design method adopted in this specification is essentially semi-probabilistic and semi-empirical. Meeting the structural requirements stipulated in this specification is the basic condition for the design and calculation of scaffolding.
