  • Product Introduction

Scaffolding is a working platform erected to ensure the smooth progress of various construction processes. According to the location of erection, it is divided into external scaffolding and internal scaffolding. According to different materials, it can be classified into wooden scaffolding, bamboo scaffolding and steel pipe scaffolding. According to their structural forms, they can be classified into vertical pole scaffolding, bridge scaffolding, portal scaffolding, suspended scaffolding, hanging scaffolding, cantilever scaffolding and climbing scaffolding.

Different types of construction projects require scaffolding for different purposes. Most bridge support frames use bowl buckle scaffolding, and there are also some that use portal scaffolding. For the ground scaffolding of the main structure construction, coupler scaffolding is mostly used. The longitudinal distance between the vertical rods of the scaffolding is generally 1.2 to 1.8 meters. The horizontal spacing is generally 0.9 to 1.5 meters.
Compared with general structures, the working conditions of scaffolding have the following characteristics:
    1. The variability of the load it bears is relatively large;
    2. The connection nodes of the fasteners are semi-rigid, and the rigidity of the nodes is related to the quality of the fasteners and the installation quality, resulting in significant variations in the performance of the nodes.
    3. The scaffolding structure and components have initial defects, such as the initial bending and rusting of the members, large dimensional errors during erection, and eccentric loading, etc.
    4. The connection points with the wall have a relatively large variation in the binding force on the scaffolding. The research on the above issues lacks systematic accumulation and statistical data, and does not have the conditions for independent probability analysis. Therefore, the value of the adjustment coefficient less than 1 multiplied by the structural resistance is determined by calibrating it with the safety factor used in the past. Therefore, the design method adopted in this specification is essentially semi-probabilistic and semi-empirical. Meeting the structural requirements stipulated in this specification is the basic condition for the design and calculation of scaffolding.

Scaffolding is an essential temporary structure widely used across construction, renovation, and industrial maintenance projects. Designed to provide workers with safe, stable, and elevated platforms, scaffolding ensures efficient access to building exteriors, complex architectural elements, and hard-to-reach areas during various stages of a project. Its modular design allows it to be assembled, adjusted, and dismantled with precision, making it adaptable to both small-scale and large-scale construction environments.

Modern scaffolding systems are typically made from high-strength steel or lightweight aluminum, offering excellent load-bearing capacity while maintaining durability and corrosion resistance. Depending on project needs, components such as frames, couplers, ledgers, braces, platforms, and guardrails can be configured into various structures. This versatility supports tasks including bricklaying, painting, facade installation, window replacement, structural repairs, and equipment maintenance.

Safety is the core principle of scaffolding design. Features such as non-slip platforms, secure locking mechanisms, toe boards, and protective railings prevent falls and ensure workers remain stable even at elevated heights. Many systems comply with international safety standards, including OSHA and EN regulations, to minimize risk and enhance construction efficiency. Regular inspection and maintenance further ensure reliable performance throughout the project.

Scaffolding also plays a vital role in improving productivity on job sites. By providing steady working platforms, it reduces the need for repetitive repositioning and enhances the accuracy of construction activities. Mobile scaffolding options equipped with caster wheels allow easy movement across surfaces, while suspended scaffolding solutions offer safe vertical mobility for high-rise buildings and complex structures.

Whether used for residential construction, commercial developments, industrial facilities, or infrastructure maintenance, scaffolding remains an indispensable tool in the modern building industry. Its combination of strength, adaptability, and safety supports the successful completion of projects while protecting workers and improving overall efficiency

Scaffolding is a temporary structural system widely used in construction, maintenance, renovation, and industrial projects to provide safe access and stable working platforms for workers, tools, and materials at various heights. It is an essential part of modern construction practice, enabling tasks to be carried out efficiently while significantly reducing safety risks. From residential buildings and commercial complexes to bridges, power plants, and large-scale infrastructure projects, scaffolding supports almost every stage of construction and maintenance work.

The primary function of scaffolding is to create a secure elevated workspace. By offering firm platforms and controlled access routes, scaffolding allows workers to perform activities such as masonry, concrete pouring, plastering, painting, welding, equipment installation, and inspection with greater accuracy and safety. Compared with ladders or makeshift supports, properly designed scaffolding systems provide superior stability and load-bearing capacity, reducing the likelihood of falls, structural collapse, or material accidents.

There are many types of scaffolding systems, each suited to specific project requirements. Tube-and-coupler scaffolding is one of the most traditional forms, valued for its flexibility and ability to adapt to complex or irregular building shapes. Frame scaffolding is commonly used for building facades and low- to mid-rise structures due to its simple design, ease of assembly, and cost-effectiveness. Modular systems such as ringlock, cuplock, and kwikstage scaffolding offer high strength, excellent stability, and fast installation, making them ideal for large-scale construction and industrial applications. Suspended scaffolding is often used for high-rise exterior work, while mobile scaffolding is designed for indoor tasks and maintenance operations where frequent movement is required.

The materials used in scaffolding play a crucial role in determining its performance and durability. Steel scaffolding is widely used because of its high strength, excellent load-bearing capability, and resistance to deformation, making it suitable for heavy-duty and long-term projects. Aluminum scaffolding is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to transport, which improves efficiency in projects requiring frequent assembly and relocation. In specialized environments, fiberglass scaffolding may be used for its electrical insulation properties and resistance to chemicals, especially in power plants and chemical facilities.

Safety is the most critical consideration in scaffolding design, installation, and use. High-quality scaffolding systems are equipped with safety features such as guardrails, mid-rails, toe boards, non-slip platforms, ladders, and secure locking mechanisms. Proper erection and dismantling by trained personnel, regular inspections, and strict adherence to load limits are essential to maintaining stability and preventing accidents. Compliance with international and local safety standards, such as OSHA, EN, or other regulatory requirements, is necessary to ensure worker protection and legal compliance.

Scaffolding also contributes significantly to construction efficiency and cost control. Modular scaffolding systems allow rapid assembly and dismantling, reducing labor time and minimizing project delays. Standardized components can be reused across multiple projects, lowering material costs and supporting sustainable construction practices. Well-planned scaffolding layouts improve workflow, enhance productivity, and help construction teams complete tasks within tight schedules.

With continuous advancements in construction technology, scaffolding systems are evolving to meet higher safety and performance standards. Modern designs incorporate lightweight materials, improved connection mechanisms, and integrated safety features to enhance ease of use and reliability. Digital planning and prefabricated components further improve accuracy and efficiency in scaffolding installation. As projects become larger and more complex, the importance of reliable scaffolding systems continues to grow.

In summary, scaffolding is an indispensable support system in the construction and industrial sectors. By providing safe access, stable working platforms, and adaptable configurations, scaffolding ensures worker safety, improves operational efficiency, and supports the successful completion of a wide range of projects. Its role in modern construction remains fundamental, making it a critical investment for contractors, engineers, and project owners worldwide.
